What is Pink Sea Fan Coral?

Its unique pink coloration, delicate branches, and intricate design make it a beloved feature of many marine ecosystems, but unfortunately, its survival is under threat due to habitat loss and other environmental pressures.

Where is pink sea fan coral found? 
Pink sea fan coral is found primarily in the waters around the British Isles, including the coasts of Ireland, Scotland, and England. It can also be found along the coasts of France, Spain, and Portugal, as well as the Azores and Madeira islands. This species of coral prefers to grow in areas with strong currents, such as rocky reefs, where it can capture food particles and filter nutrients from the water.

What role does coral play in the ocean? 
Like all coral, pink sea fan coral plays an important role in maintaining the health and biodiversity of marine ecosystems. It provides shelter and a habitat for a variety of marine animals, including fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. It also helps to stabilize the seafloor by reducing erosion and preventing sediment buildup.
