Properties of Red Jasper Red Jasper is a granular microcrystalline quartz with dull luster usually colored red by included hematite. The Jasper meaning is that of protection, endurance and physical strength. Therefore, if you feel out of balance, Red Jasper helps to keep you grounded, as it responds to “ iron ”, the element that is in within hemoglobin which is the iron-containing protein responsible for the "red" color of blood and the base or root chakra.
